New Homes nearly always have problems... Did you know that 90% of new homes have snags & defects? (MORI 2003). MOVINGSPACE.COM, an established London sales and letting agent, has had many experiences of brand new properties not coming up to an expected standard or not being completely finished on the day of 'hand over' to the new owner. There have been instances of missing kitchen appliances, poorly fitted kitchen units, chipped ceramic bathroom fittings, heavily scratched window panes, missing door stops or doors that will not close, lights that do not work, stained or damaged flooring etc. Rectifying these faults after occupation can be a real (and expensive) problem, especially when the property is to be rented out and the new owner is not at hand to spot these issues prior to the tenant's occupation.
